History

The history of our inn

“For whom wants to bathe in a magic atmosphere of other time and detach the thorn from
the frantic modern daily routine and enjoy to the fullest the beauty of the simple things
without renouncing to all the comforts you need.
The Villa was built in the 30’s, under the indication of an Italian gentleman emigrated the years before in the USA, looking for fortune.
At his return, he built this small Hotel, naming it “Pensione Florida”, in memory of his lucky trip to America.
The pension was not always and only a structure for the vacations, in the winter periods during the Second World War, it turned into a school, hosting a lot of students.
In the 2005 the Villa was restructured and renamed “La Locanda del Geco”, preserving great part of the fascinating and original structure and furnitures, keeping its Liberty charming style intact.”

“On the ground floor you will find our living room, a welcoming hall that respects the Belle Epoque style of the Villa, where you can quietly browse the newspaper or discover the excursions that our area offers.

There is also a TV for those who prefer to relax with their favorite programs.
Our two-storeyVilla offers its travelers the opportunity to enjoy a breakfast in the typical Belle Epoque styled room that takes light from the large windows. The games of light in the morning make every breakfast suggestive.
For those who’d love to breathe the cool morning breeze and enjoy the first sun, we also set up outside.
You can enjoy both, sweet and savory delicacies that our breakfast buffet offers every morning, from hot baked croissants to hard-boiled eggs, yoghurt and cold salami for all tastes, also paying attention to those with food intolerance problems.”

At your return, whether after a day at the beach or a trip to the beautiful Tuscany, you can enjoy the sunset lulled by soft background music, sipping fresh cocktails, personally prepared by our staff, on our terrace in the company of other guests. Thanks to its convenient central location, directly in front of the main street of the town,Via Versilia, surrounded by bars, ice cream shops, restaurants and other kind of shops you can observe and live the daily life of the country, leaving your self carried away by the magical atmosphere of yesteryear that our B&B emanates.
